The Nissan Cube is a car that most people -Jalops included- prefer to never think about. Its unique mixture of boxy, practical Japanese styling is far too non-Swedish to go down well here. Further, it is only offered with a miserable 122 hp four cylinder engine- not nearly enough to overcome its non-Swedish box styling and cute round lights in the minds of Jalops. We all know nobody with a Cube is going to be on Oppo unless clicking by mistake while searching for homemade dog food recipes. However, if you were given the chance to put any engine in the world into it... what would it be? Don't worry about making it actually work- it's never going to happen, so anything goes.

S54 from the E46 M3, in CSL tune.
That, or cut a hole in the floor and Flintstone it.

Fuck it. I'm going to be mental and swap a 4-banger from evo and make it 4wd.
Heck, might as well put the body of that thing on the top of Evo chassis, ala Top Gear Taxi.

Stay with Nissan, get a SR20DET. And tune the heck out of it.

I'll put another engine in the rear and make it 4WD.

Fuck, just make it electric and fill in all the passenger space with batteries. Make it so overpowered that it can only run flat-out for a few minutes before the motor is at risk of melting. And then add liquid nitrogen tanks for mega cooling on track days.

Little bit of info. They sold one of these in the UK in the whole of last year. One.
I think the only way they could make it sell is by making it all-electric. It'd appeal to people who think GeeWizz's are a perfectly good method of transport.

An SR20VE and a six speed would be pretty rad.
~200 naturally aspirated, high-revving horsepower would just about redeem the Cube.

Stay Nissan, throw in a VQ37 with a manual, RWD, it would be a hilarious sleeper

On another note, when I was in London I saw many (10 or so in 4 days) GeeWizz's. Are they really that popular in the UK?
I didn't think anyone would want that, but apparantly many do.

I've never seen one outside of London, but there do seem to be quite a few within the city.
Odd little things. Very similar to the tiny 2-cylinder diesel milk cartons you see a lot around France. Apparently you don't need a driving licence to drive one.

The inspiration?
Anyway, looks like its already been done ;)
Postman Pat van bought for £250 on eBay turned into a car that goes quicker than a PORSCHE

I would drop in the great-sounding 3.2 V6 from the Alfa 147GTA,with a pair of turbos strapped on for good measure. Also,I would convert it to rwd and let the looks untouched so that it'd still look boxy and slow.

The Nissan Cube is a car that most people -Jalops included- prefer to never think about.
Except for Doug Demuro... he owns one!

he still prefers not to think of it...

Nissan could swap the GT-R drivetrain under this - ala the hot-rod Juke - and make a 'Godzilla Cube'. Go Big & Angry, or Go Home...

Ummm....obvious answer is GTR drivetrain swap, then take it to AMS for 2,000 street-drivable horsepower. Win every race ever. Cause peoples heads to explode from emotions they didn't even know existed. Create black hole of awesome. Win at life.
